Bespoke timber windows and doors manufactured by Prime Sash Windows and installed by Skylon Construction as part of a recently completed London high-end residential project.
Bespoke timber windows designed for the property
Every property has its own proportions, rhythm and architectural language. For this recently completed London home, the client required a collection of bespoke timber windows and doors that would complement the existing architecture while bringing the quality, performance and finish expected from a modern home. The windows and doors were supplied through Prime Sash Windows, the specialist timber window and door brand of Skylon Joinery, and manufactured within our own joinery workshop.Rather than treating each opening as a standard product, every element was considered in relation to the building itself. The proportions, glazing bars, profiles, arched details and painted finish were all carefully coordinated so that the new joinery would feel natural within the property.
Traditional proportions, modern performance
One of the reasons timber remains so suited to London homes is its ability to bridge traditional architecture and modern living. The new windows retain the proportions and detailing associated with classic timber joinery, while modern manufacturing allows for greater precision, improved glazing and a carefully controlled finish.Because the windows were made specifically for the property, each opening could be considered individually rather than adapted around a standard size. That level of control is particularly important in period and character homes, where even small differences in proportion can affect how naturally a new window sits within the facade.
The best new details don't announce themselves. They simply look as though they have always belonged.
From the workshop to the finished home
Beautiful joinery is only one part of the result.Installation determines how that joinery finally becomes part of the building.Once manufactured by Skylon Joinery under the Prime Sash Windows brand, the windows and doors were installed on site by the Skylon Construction team as part of the wider residential project. That connection between workshop and site allows the details to be considered all the way through, from manufacture and finishing to final installation. It is particularly visible in the arched timber windows overlooking the garden. From outside, they form part of the architecture. From inside, they frame the view, bring natural light into the room and become a feature of the interior in their own right.
What this means for you
When choosing bespoke timber windows and doors for a London property, the finished appearance depends on more than the product itself. The design needs to respect the architecture. The manufacturing needs to be precise. And the installation needs to be handled with the same level of care.By bringing together Prime Sash Windows, Skylon Joinery and Skylon Construction within the same wider group, those stages can remain closely connected from workshop to site. The result should not feel like something new has been added. It should simply feel like it belongs.
