Photographs capture the result, but rarely the full story behind it.
That is why we decided to put some of that story into print.
More than a collection of finished photographs
Our new Skylon Joinery publication brings together projects, details and the people and processes behind them. There are finished interiors, bespoke joinery pieces and architectural details. But there is also the workshop, the place where drawings become timber, individual components become finished pieces and ideas begin to take physical form. For us, that distinction matters. A portfolio should show more than what something looked like on the day it was photographed.
It should give some sense of what it took to make it.
One workshop. More than one story.
The publication also reflects how much our manufacturing operation has developed. Skylon Joinery remains at its heart: bespoke joinery made for residential and commercial projects. Alongside it, Prime Sash Windows has grown as our specialist timber window and door brand, combining traditional joinery with a more modern manufacturing approach. Behind that production sits Joinery Core - technology originally developed from the needs of our own workshop to help coordinate projects, production, stock and information.
And then there is Skylon Spraying, providing specialist finishing for joinery, windows, doors and architectural elements. Different names and different specialisms. But often, the work passes through the same hands, the same workshop and the same pursuit of a better finished result.
A finished piece tells you what we made. The process tells you who we are.
Why print it at all?
Almost everything is digital now. Websites can be updated instantly. Projects can be viewed on a phone. A portfolio can travel anywhere with a link. And we use all of those things. But there is still something appropriate about presenting physical craftsmanship in a physical format. Timber has texture. Finishes react to light. Details reveal themselves when you look more closely. A carefully produced publication slows that experience down slightly. It gives a project room to breathe.
What this means for you
Having construction, bespoke joinery, specialist timber window manufacturing and finishing expertise within the wider Skylon structure allows us to understand a project from more than one perspective. Skylon Construction itself describes this approach as bringing multiple specialist disciplines together rather than treating each element in isolation. The publication is simply another way of showing that work. Not through a list of services. But through the things we've actually made.
